The GEC currently sponsors a wide range of activities through the academic year. A sampling is listed below. To suggest an activity, you can email seasgec@princeton.edu, or contact your representative directly. |
| Welcome BBQ |
| Each year the GEC sponsors a barbeque to welcome the entering class graduate engineering students to Princeton. |
| Alumni Mixer |
Held annually with the AGPA (Association of Princeton Graduate Alumni), the mixer provides a valuable networking event for all Princeton's graduate students.
|
| Lecture Series |
Each year we sponsor three to four recent Princeton graduate engineering alumni (typically chosen from among those who work in industry) to return to Princeton share some of their knowledge with the Princeton community.
|
| Teaching Awards |
Coordinated with the E-Council (the undergraduate equivalent to the GEC), the teaching awards are offered twice annually to reward the best instructors (both faculty and graduate students) that Princeton Engineering has to offer. It is also Princeton's only teaching award based solely on students’ votes and comments.
|
| Meet Your TAs |
Also held in coordination with the E-Council, this event gives undergraduate students a chance to meet their AI's in a more relaxed setting.
|
| State of the School Address |
Originally suggested by the GEC, the State of the School Address is given by the Dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Science to the graduate student body. It provides a valuable perspective on the School's strategic plan, and offers insight on where we're headed. |
| Poker Night |
Held in the E-Quad Café last year for the first time with success, the poker night encourages some fun between undergraduate and graduate engineering students. Involves snacks, video games, a movie, and of course poker. |
| Thanksgiving Food Drive |
Collects food during the holiday season in order to aide the work of Homefront - an organization that fights homelessness in Trenton, NJ. |
| POPT Preparation |
We provide additional language help and English practice to students preparing to take the POPT test. Please contact your departmental representatives for help or to volunteer. |
