SGU Wargames

Announcements

Warhammer is here! If you're interested in a great fantasy miniatures game, look no further! We've been painting the miniatures and trying out the rules for the last week, and it's time for some games! If you're interested (no miniatures required - the SGU has a liberal supply), sign up here.

Also, check out the online Army Generator, which lets you find the points value of any particular force. (Most battles are 1000 points, though we'll play some larger ones once we get more figures ready!)

Talisman
The SGU just bought some Talisman expansion sets! They seemed really cool when we tried them out, but it looks like we could use the newest version of the game as well. So stop by, and we might get around to going out to buy the new Talisman. Otherwise, we'll just play with what we've got!

Warhammer Fantasy Battle

Steve and Aaron initiated the new set of Warhammer Fantasy Battle, with a force of Orcs in pitched battle with the ugly 'oomans. The two forces began by exchanging bowfire as the warriors closed to melee. The Biggest Toughest unit of Bad-Ass Orcs met some wimpy humans and was systematically destroyed - it didn't look good for the orcs! Fortunately a unit of human archers was broken, and the orcs' flank held its own. The orc reserves moved to attack the victorious humans in the center, and were themselves set fleeing in defeat. This inspired the nearby unit of goblin archers to flee as well. But on the right flank, the orcs defeated (and ate) their hapless foes. The humans in the center gave chase to their cowardly foes, and the fleeing orcs and gobbos turned to fight again. This time, the orcs carried the day, mowing down the helpless men.

With only one unit of swordsmen and some archers standing against four units of orcs, the humans conceded defeat. Though we're not sure we got everything right the first time around, at least we're clear on the rules now, and we hope to encourage a few more of you to try out Warhammer!
