Princeton University Sinfonia
Auditions
Auditions for Sinfonia run concurrently with auditions for the Princeton University Orchestra in September. Sign up online at www.puorchestra.org. Students may opt to audition for Sinfonia only, in which case they need only come to the audition with a prepared solo piece. If auditioning for PUO, students must prepare all required material, including a solo piece and the required orchestral excerpts. Generally, musicians not accepted into PUO are offered spots in Sinfonia. More audition information, including information about PUO's orchestral excerpts, is available at www.puorchestra.org; audition results are also posted there. Questions about Sinfonia may be directed to Ruth Ochs at rochs@princeton.edu
**Sinfonia’s first rehearsal will be Monday, September 17, 2012, 7-9pm in McAlpin Rehearsal Hall, in the basement level of Woolworth Center for Musical Center for Musical Studies.
Sinfonia Rehearsal Schedule
Rehearsals for Sinfonia are held 7-9pm every Monday and 9-11pm every Thursday in
McAlplin Rehearsal Hall. Extra rehearsals and sectionals are often scheduled as needed throughout the semester. Students are asked
to be flexible when extra rehearsal is necessary and to be serious about their commitment to the regular rehearsal schedule.
Annual Sinfonia Concerto Competition
Early each spring semester, Sinfonia holds a concerto competition that is open to members of Sinfonia. Students audition with accompaniment on a pre-approved movement from concerto repertory. The audition is generally held in early to mid February and the winner performs on the May concert in Richardson Auditorium.
