Eszter Hargittai, Sociology Department, Princeton University

  • I am in the midst of reworking a paper on "Holes in the 'Net: The Internet and International Stratification."  The paper looks at how the global spread of the Internet is perpetuating international power differences. A preliminary version will be available on-line soon. (The paper was presented at the American Sociological Association's 1997 summer meetings in Toronto.)
  • My other project is a cross-cultural analysis of culturally variable depictions of the self through personal homepages; the case of Hungary, Switzerland, France, and the U.S.
  • If you have done any content analysis of webpages, or have surveyed webpages for any similar project, please let me know. I'd be really interested in exchanging notes on methodology.
