Steven Schultz

Director of Engineering Communications

School of Engineering and Applied Science

Princeton University

Professional

I direct the Office of Engineering Communications. Our job is to tell the story of engineering faculty and students and their accomplishments. The stories are fascinating because engineering at Princeton is not an isolated discipline, but is closely connected to the natural sciences, the humanities, the social sciences, the arts and public policy. So people here are helping to solve serious global problems related to human health, the environment and security, not just from a technological perspective but in collaboration with the best and most creative thinkers in academia, industry and government.

Personal

I live in Princeton with my wife, Karla, and my two daughters. I bike to work and spend a good deal of time dealing with the consequences of having bought a true fixer-upper house.

Karla is a food writer, community activist and social entrepreneur. For a fascinating and important perspective on food and the role it plays in our communities, the economy and the global environment, check out www.thefoodtimes.com.

In my spare time, I also make and sell raised garden beds to encourage people to grow some of their own vegetables.
