General Indexes

ProQuest Direct - Periodical Research Library
Indexes journals and some newspapers. Provides the complete article in many cases.
Ebsco Academic Search Premier
Another general journal index with many complete articles.
Omnifile [Wilson indexes]
Broad general index that is actually a combination of Readers' Guide, Humanities Index, General Science and others. Some full text is available.

Specialized Indexes

America: History and Life (History)

Abstracts over 2,000 journals, listing articles that deal with the entire history of the United States and Canada. Indexing begins in 1964.
ARTbibliographies Modern (1974+) (Art)
Provides full abstracts of journal articles, books, essays, exhibition catalogs, PhD dissertations, and exhibition reviews on all forms of modern and contemporary art, with approximately 12-13,000 new entries being added each year.
Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals (1930s+) (Architecture)
Indexes journal articles published worldwide on architecture and design, archaeology, city planning, interior design, and historic preservation.
MLA International Bibliography (1963+) (Literature)
Provides citations to articles, books, book chapters, and dissertations on all aspects of modern literature, language, and linguistics.
PsycINFO (1800's+) (Psychology)
Produced by the American Psychological Association, it is the most comprehensive database of psychology. Provides abstracts and citations to the scholarly literature in the behavioral sciences.
Sociological Abstracts (1952+) (Sociology)
Indexing and abstracting of the world's literature in sociology and related disciplines, both theoretical and applied. Covers 2,500 journals, conference papers, dissertations, and book reviews.
