Princeton SURGE, Students United for a Responsible Global Environment, was new to campus Fall 2006. Our first campaign is focused on mobilizing the Princeton campus community to become a national leader in greenhouse gas emissions reduction by improving our energy habits on the personal and institutional level. Our main goals are to:
- Educate ourselves and our fellow students to help Princeton University become a national leader in carbon emissions reductions, and
- Achieve climate neutrality at Princeton University through energy efficiency, renewables, and offsets, and by employing the skills, energy, and resources of our leading institution.
We are currently doing research along with faculty and staff to determine what our current emissions levels are and to develop a plan and build consensus throughout campus to achieve our ambitious goals.
