Angel’s Wings (AW) is an emergency shelter for children from birth to twelve years old who have been removed from abuse and neglect situations by the state child protection services. Located on the 7th floor of the St. Francis Medical Center, AW provides the children with a safe, nurturing environment in which they can both physically and emotionally heal while the Division of Youth and Family Services looks for a permanent home for them. Volunteers may spend time reading to a toddler, organizing donated clothing, or rocking a new-born infant to sleep. Volunteer hours are very flexible, and can be life-changing for the volunteer as much as the children. |
