March 2004-present Director, Circulation Services Division

• Lead the activities of the Circulation Services Division: Circulation, Reserves, Current Periodicals, Stacks, Remote Storage, and BorrowDirect (rapid unmediated ILL service).
• Manage, set priorities for, and evaluate the work of 5 professional, 23 permanent union support, and 10 FTE student staff.
• Administer a materials budget to support three collections.
• Coordinate the Firestone Library space planning program for collections totaling over 3 million volumes.
• Serve as principal liaison from the Library to the Office of General Counsel on matters relating to copyright and patron privacy.
• Coordinate and plan Library-wide collection moves to the ReCAP remote storage facility.
• Evaluate and enhance, or develop new Library services and programs.
• Serve as a member of the Library Management Group (LMG), Technical Services Steering Committee (TSSC), and the Library Integrated Systems Steering Committee (LISSC).

Columbia University Libraries, New York, NY

 May 1999-February 2004 Head, Circulation & Support Services Department, Access Services Division

• Managed the services and activities of the Butler Library Circulation unit, Information and Privileges Office, and Offsite Shelving facilities, and had oversight and liaison responsibility with Facilities and Security for Butler Library. 
• Oversaw, set priorities for, and evaluated the work of 3 department managers, 12 full-time union support staff, and 5.5 FTE student assistants.
• Coordinated activities relating to access and privileges, publications and schedules for the University Libraries, and played a lead role in the development and updating of the Libraries' website. 
• Participated in planning and design of services and the development of service objectives.
• Implemented effective and efficient policies and procedures in support of the Department's and Division's service commitments.
• Established qualitative and quantitative performance measures for staff and services.

From July 2001-February 2004 responsibilities also included:

• Providing reference services at the Butler Library Reference Desk.
• Participating in the Libraries' virtual reference program.
• Assisting and instructing library users in person, by e-mail, and by telephone on the use of the Libraries' resources.

May 1992-April 1999 Head, Library Information and Privileges Office

• Administered visitor privileges to the Columbia University Libraries.
• Maintained local databases on all library patrons.
• Assisted in the planning and implementation of access and circulation policies.
• Assisted in the development and execution of training programs in all circulation-related functions of the NOTIS-based circulation system.
• Managed the Libraries' publication budget.
• Coordinated, maintained, and distributed Libraries' publications and schedules.
• Oversaw the Libraries' orientation program for visiting scholars.

Summer 1995 Acting Head, Butler Circulation Department

• Monitored and evaluated the circulation-related services of the Butler Library (the main library) with an annual circulation in excess of 200,000.
• Hired, trained, scheduled and evaluated the work of 11 full-time union support staff and 6 FTE students.
• Assisted in the planning of, and supervised the staff and operations at, the Libraries' two off-site shelving facilities with combined holdings of approximately 800,000 volumes.

August 1990-May 1992 Access Services Supervisor, Science and Engineering Libraries

• Supervised, hired, trained and evaluated the work of 4 full-time union support staff and 5.5 FTE student assistants in all aspects of access services.
• Supervised and maintained the interlibrary loan operation between the Science Division Libraries and the Health Sciences Library.
• Provided general and reference assistance to patrons.

June 1989-July 1990 Head, Serials Unit, School of Law Library

• Supervised, hired, trained and evaluated the work of 6.5 full-time union support staff and 4 FTE student assistants in the Resources/Acquisitions Department.
• Regulated all aspects of the $950,000 serials budget.
• Oversaw the creation, maintenance, and modification of online records of over 6,000 serial titles in all formats and a variety of languages.
• Shared responsibility for vendor selection and fund assignment for new serial titles.
• Monitored and maintained the INNOVACQ system, recommended enhancements and upgrades as necessary.

May 1988-June 1989 Technical Services Supervisor, Thomas J. Watson Library of Business and Economics

• Managed and planned all technical services activities including acquisitions, records management, and catalog/collection maintenance.
• Assisted the Business Librarian in setting service priorities and determining space allocation within the Business Library.
• Supervised, hired, trained and evaluated the work of 4.5 full-time union support staff and 3.5 FTE student assistants.
• Managed the ongoing physical plant operations.
• Represented the Business Librarian at the Business School 's administrative meetings.
• Provided general and reference assistance to patrons.
