About Us
We would like to thank the Sociology Department for its support of TIPS, especially Chair Tom Espenshade and Director of Graduate Studies Bob Wuthnow. We are also grateful to Viviana Zelizer for her support and help via the Cotsen Fellowship. We are also indebted to the American Sociological Association for awarding us a Teaching Enhancement Grant for the academic year 2001/2002 that has allowed us to bring in scholars from other campuses to talk to us about the scholarship of teaching and learning and other teaching related issues. Origins of TIPS
Thanks to an initiative by Wendy Cadge and Sada Aksartova, a group of sociology
graduate
students met for lunch in Spring, 2000
to talk about teaching in the Sociology Department. Ann Morning, Craig Upright,
Eszter Hargittai,
Julian Dierkes, and Wendy Cadge were present and several others (Sada Aksartova,
Marion Carter,
Margarita Mooney, Nina Bandelj, and Kelly Hoffman) expressed interest but were not
able to
attend.
Credits Thanks to Wendy Cadge (gacadge@princeton.edu)
and Sada Aksartova (sada@princeton.edu)
for
starting us off on this path. Wendy Cadge, Eszter Hargittai (eszter@princeton.edu) and
Nina Bandelj
(nbandelj@princeton.edu)
are
now responsible for the core contents of the program. They welcome your
input! We appreciate the help of
our department Chair Tom Espenshade and our Director of
Graduate Studies Bob Wuthnow for their support. Thanks also go to
Viviana Zelizer for her help with this
initiative.
