I am currently an
Associate Professor (with tenure) in the Philosophy Department at
where I am also
the George H. and
Before coming to
in the Harvard Society of Fellows. I also did my graduate work at Harvard, writing a thesis
under the direction
of Derek Parfit, Jim Pryor, and the late Robert
Nozick.
My research
interests lie primarily within epistemology (broadly construed) and the theory
of rationality.
Current interests
include the relationship between theoretical and practical rationality, the
epistemological significance
of persistent
disagreement, and the extent to which one’s starting point constrains the kinds
of revisions in one’s
beliefs that
philosophical argument might legitimately inspire.
