"Taiho Shichauzo!" and the Modern Japanese Police Force
Greetings and welcome to my "Taiho Shichauzo!" web site. "Taiho Shichauzo!", or "You're Under Arrest!" as it is known in English, relates the adventures of Tokyo Police women Miyuki Kobayakawa and Natsumi Tsujimoto. Created by Kosuke Fujishima, the "Taiho Shichauzo!" world encompasses seven manga compilations, four OAV videos, and a weekly television program in Japan. Noticeable of the series is its adherence to our modern world. There are no characters with naturally blue hair and the machines that they use either exist or could theoretically exist. Because of this fact, "Taiho Shichauzo!" offers a wonderful opportunity to learn about modern Japanese society and their police force. As I will be referring to specific instances in the anime or manga at times, I recommend familiarizing yourself with the "Taiho Shichauzo!" world before continuing. In the U.S., the OAV series is available in dubbed and subtitled formats by the Animeigo company while selections of the manga have been translated into English by Studio Proteus and distributed by the Dark Horse Comics corporation.
