The application process for the preparatory program begins at the respective schools from which PUPP draws its students: Ewing, Lawrence, Nottingham (Hamilton, NJ) Princeton, and Trenton Central high schools. Eligible 9th grade students, identified by school personnel, receive program information from PUPP and an application to PUPP in late February. PUPP candidates must meet the following criteria:
In early March, information meetings are held for candidates and their parents at the respective high schools. The formal application is a six-page document. Students also complete a writing sample and participate in small group interviews as part of the selection process. Families must provide financial documentation to insure eligibility. PUPP administrators review the applicants' materials and select the incoming class. Candidates successful in gaining admissions into the program are notified by letter by the end of April. Students from Ewing, Lawrence, Nottingham, Princeton and Trenton Central high schools interested in applying to PUPP should contact their guidance departments for specific application deadlines. PUPP is administered by Princeton University's Program in Teacher Preparation. |
