About Touhami Ennadre
French Artist Touhami Ennadre was born in Casablanca in 1953. He has received numerous awards and has exhibited his work throughout the world. He describes his technique:
"I work in 60 mm x 60 mm. I develop all film myself and make copies of everything for working prints. Then, selecting some one of thirty or forty prints, I put together the series to be worked on. This is the beginning of a long process.
"Each of my enlargements, up to 1,20 x 1,50 m, is unique. They are not unique because I make no copies but because of the way I work. For every photo I draw a series of masks and experiment with exposure times. One print can be similar to another but it cannot be identical, hence its uniqueness. One print, with tests and the drawing and making of masks, takes a minimum of 12 hours. I am far removed from photographers who, once satisfied with a negative, proceed rapidly, making as many copies as they want, in whatever format. My work is closer to the plastic arts than to photography.
"The setting and the stretching of the photograph mounted on the canvas is an extremely delicate operation, which can only be realized by one person in Paris."
Below is a list of some of Touhami Ennadre's exhibitions, published books and awards.
