06.22.2009 | em[POWER] reaches semifinal round in the Dell Social Innovation Competition

Thanks in large part to the tremendous success of our facebook marketing campaign, we got enough votes to make it to the second round of the Dell competition. We fared very well and amassed over 1000 votes between the first and second rounds of the competition. Unfortunately, that was still not enough to make it to the top 3/100 but we're proud of what we achieved!

04.07.2009 | New Photo Gallery, YouTube video online for the Dell Competition!

Our second round entry for the Dell Social Innovation Competition was submitted yesterday. This time we managed to get the support of a lot of new people, allowing us to submit a 40-pg business plan and youtube video featuring original footage of Karachi, Kachra Kundi, and Al Khair. We must express our gratitude to all who have helped us in this process. In the meantime, please make sure to check out some photos by Urooj Mughal from a trip led by Waqas Jawaid (Princeton Univ) to Al Khair over spring break to lead an art activity for 8-10 year olds. Also, check out our YouTube for the Dell submission!

01.22.2009 | Preliminary Project Proposal Completed

We completed and submitted the first draft of our project proposal for review by some B-school students. Even though it is a very rough document and is not comprehensive, it feels good to get all our ideas on paper and feel like we're finally moving along and pushing ahead. We still have a lot to do with this project but our team is steadily growing and interest among those we talk to remains high, which is always a good sign. We just hope we can take advantage of our spare time while we have it!
