The Present State of Ethnic Studies at Princeton
April 1996
Following the sit-in conducted on April 20-21, 1995, Princeton University pledged to "raise $6 million in endowment to support between two and four positions in existing departments for faculty with special interests in Asian American and Latino studies... These funds would also support other initiatives, including a number of visiting professors."
Despite progress since last Spring, additional steps must be taken. The University's official objectives and the status of current efforts are stated below:
- "In the interim [before the faculty positions are secured], we will continue to support a number of visiting positions in Asian American and Latino studies and to fund a number of courses and curricular development efforts."
