Biography

Born 1962, Mount Kisko, NY

A.B. College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, VA, 1985

M.F.A. University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC, 1988

Exhibitions include USA Clay (opening March 9, 2001) at the Smithsonian's Renwick Gallery in Washington; Clay into Art at the Metroplitan Museum in New York City; Interiors at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh, the 29th Ceramic National and solo exhibit, Marc Leuthold, Ceramics both at the Everson Museum in Syracuse, New York; The Chasanoff Cllection at the Mint Museum in Charlotte, North Carolina; Anticipation '91 & '92 at the Chicago New Art Forms Exposition at Navy Pier; and Talentborse Handwerk, International Competition in Design and Technology for Craftspersons at the International Handwerksmesse, Munich, Germany. Leuthold's work is represented in the collections of the Renwick Gallery, the American Craft Museum, the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, the Brooklyn Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Mint Museum, the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, Longhouse Reserve, and UrbanGlass. He has received awards including the Kohler Art/Industry Fellowship, the Empire State Crafts Alliance Artist Grant, the Banff Centre for the Arts Residency Grant, the Jinro International Workshop residency, and the La Napoule Foundation Fellowship. Leuthold was elected to the International Academy of Ceramics in 1999.
