Desciption of the Research Project
Summary
The Web
Use
Project is a look at how Americans use the Web in their
everyday lives.
Project details
The project
is based on interviews with a random sample of people from Mercer County
in New Jersey. Internet users are
randomly recruited
from each geographic area to participate in the study. Information is
collected on people's Web use patterns and details on their location
(work, home, library, community center) and the extent and scope of their
Internet use (e.g. amount of time spent online daily/weekly, amount of
time spent emailing, browsing the Web, chatting) in addition to some other
factors. Participants take part in an online scavenger hunt looking for
various types of information. The goal is to gain a more in-depth
understanding of how Americans are incorporating the Internet into their
everyday lives.
All information collected is kept completely
confidential. The data are used in aggregate without any identifying
information about individual participants.
