Principle Research Interests: I am interested in the evolution of resistance to disease in natural populations, and the physiological mechanisms underlying investments in the immune defense. I use birds as model animals to investigate
interrelationships between, stress hormone levels, social status, immunity,
parasite prevalence and metabolic expenditure.

The questions that I am working with now are: How will social stress affect immunity? Can seasonal outbreaks of disease be induced by stress?
Are animals adapted to the local fauna of parasites?
