Recording Winter 2003

Can you hear me now?

On January 20, 2003, the Wildcats started recording for our fourth album, "Taken by the Sky". It was really cool. Click on any picture for the full-size image.

We arrived mid-morning at the old, grey door of what was once "Diffusa-Lite Co." It was a pretty sketchy exterior, honestly, and we hoped we weren't walking into a random abandoned warehouse. Fortunately, we recorded our last cd here, so some of us had been here before.
The whole building exterior for the full effect.
The inside was quite nice, however, and we proceded to warm up and start making music. Here's two of our soprano ones, Jen and Elena, ready to go.
Sapana and Joanna had a bit of a giggle fit during the "Rose Red" warmups...but at least they're smiling for the camera. (:
"Is that someone's birth control?"
It was actually a heater.
Adele really enjoyed this Twizzler.
We got into the recording room proper and got our mics adjusted for us. Here's three of the soprano's all set to sing.
Here's the Jens, also ready to go. Jen L (left) conducted one of the songs, so the recording guys had to make sure she had flailing...I mean conducting room.
Sapana Thomas, Alto I, ready to go.
After several hours of studio work, some of us started getting a little restless. Now don't get me wrong, it was really fun...yet the exit started looking tempting...
Joanna made a break for the door! There she goes...
...going....going....
Hey, wait for me!
Silliness aside, we got back to work. Here Adele and Elena record an extra sop solo bit while the rest of us watch from the sound room.
Jessie and Naomi have a little fun while we wait to hear how the most recent take sounded.
Jen C has her music to make sure every note is perfect.
There were all these cute little bugs all over the floor of the studio. Apparently they're always around. This was a lucky one; many got squished over the course of the day--may their little buggy souls rest in peace.
Jen C prepares to record her guitar solo while half of us head back to Princeton.
