The Beginning
The Wildcats were founded in 1687 and are still performing with almost all original members. Unfortunately, the group lost a soprano to gangrene in 1832, but they did not lose heart. They continue to sing, and they sound damn fine at that.
Okay, no. Really...
The Wildcats were founded in 1987 and have been making music in Princeton's arches and around the world ever since.
The Wildcats started when Collin Holbert, '90, arranged "Respect" by Aretha Franklin. Collin originally joined the Tigressions, but for personal and artistic reasons decided to start a group on her own.
"Angel Eyes," a song by Ella Fitzgerald, is another one of the first Wildcat arrangements, and still remains an important part of Wildcat tradition, being the first and last song a Wildcat will ever sing.
Attracting independent and alternative women on campus, the Wildcats grew fantastically and entered the arch rotation in 1991. The Wildcats pride themselves on being strong, unique women with powerful voices. The Wildcats are a group of women that can't be pushed around.
