Our own experience in September 11, 2001 when terror struck New York City.

==============================================================

I had a diarrhea on Tuesday morning (b/c my hubby took my blanket while I was sleeping, therefore, I caught the cold). So I called and left a message with my boss, and told him that I would be in 1/2 hour late. The train bypassed Futon street due to the disaster happening on the ground, so I got out on the Wall St. I saw papers everywhere on the floors, and then I saw the WTC buildings each with burning holes. I couldn't believe my eyes! They looked so unreal, it was like someone filming a movie. I guessed the reason was that they were so high up, and therefore, don't look real from the ground. I stood in the crowd, and heard all sorts of stories from the witnesses. Then someone told me that "you should get out of here, these things might collapse anytime. All of sudden, I was awake and starting walking toward the subway. I took the train updown. On the train, a lady said that she couldn't even sit down due to what she saw that morning. She witnessed a person jumped off the building while she was in her office across the street from the towers. Again, I was in shock. After I got off the train, I walked and saw many people with sad faces, and one of the ladies was walking and crying. I walked toward her and asked her whether she knew anyone in the WTC. She said no but it was just so sad to see this happened. They not only destroyed the buildings, they sank our hearts! Later, I heard people screaming and said that the building #2 had collapsed! I was in disbelief of what I heard. I hurried home, and my hubby ran over and hugged me, and we both started to cried. Seconds later, the building #1 (the one I work in) also collapsed. The nightmares seem never ended.

I called my company's (Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Insurance Company) hotline and found out that out of 2000 of employees in the building 1, only 46 so far were unaccounted for. All of the rest were OK. It's because we were located below 32nd floor of tower one. Most employees should have enough time to escape before the building collapsed. My company is searching for a new building as soon as possible, so that we can report back to work. That's my story, and I thank all of you out there, friends, colleages and family members for your concerns and support. And I wish all of you the best! God bless America!

Thanks again,

Ling

Yibin's description in Chinese:

==========================================================

EMAIL:Hi Ah-kang and Ling,

Are you OK, just saw the breaking news and try to call you guys hundreds of times. Seems the line is not OK. Worried for you guys, especiall Lin, Let me know if you are OK

Haofei
