YOUYI RUAN

Postdoctoral Research Associate
Geosciences, Princeton University

My primary research interests include theoretical and computational seismology, wave propagation phenomena in complex media and 3-D seismic tomography. My Ph.D. research (with Dr. Ying Zhou) is to investigate surface wave propagation in 3-D anelastic media and finite frequency effects of 3-D elastic and anelastic structures on surface-wave phase delays and amplitudes.

I am currently working with Dr. Jeroen Tromp at Princeton University on adjoint tomography projects at both regional and global scale using high performance computing facilities. Before I joined the Tromp group, I worked with Dr. Donald Forsyth at Brown University on a tomography project imaging high-resolution 3-D structures of Lithosphere and Asthenosphere beneath the Juan de Fuca plate and Cascadia trench using the Cascadia Initiative data and on an ambient noise tomography project using the SESAME data (with Dr. Karen Fischer)
