Art as Interaction AFTER THE FACT
Art as Interaction AFTER THE FACT is the final presentation for the course "Art as Interaction." In this studio class we have discussed, looked at and made art that uses the social as its primary material, thinking about what an interaction is and how it can be proposed as an art piece. We have investigated forms of collaboration, interaction, and audience participation as tools for this form of work. With this exhibition we are exploring how work that uses and produces various immaterial forms of co-existence as its object, can be exhibited and shared after the fact of the actual exchange. What kinds of art objects, documentation and other media can provide a valid art experience after the fact? The exhibition consists of two sections: One is a presentation of the individual projects of each student in the class: Buse Aktas, Mary Lou Kolbenschlag, Kemy Lin, Amber Stewart, Remi Yamazaki. The second section is the class collaboration 'The Surface' as turned into an art object that ostensibly can be shown in an exhibition space. The work is on view through May 16, with a closing reception from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15.
