OIT Administrative Information Services
Departmental Application Services (DAS)
On March 2, 2015, as part of an OIT reorganization DAS was moved from Administrative Information Services to Academic Technology Services and renamed Web Application Services. All of the systems built by DAS will be maintained by Web Application Services. Our new website is coming soon...
Departmental Application Services (DAS) builds web applications for Princeton University departments and works to develop, support, and document the tools it uses for this purpose.
Part of OIT Administrative Information Services' CDI group, DAS addresses the need for professionally developed web applications that cannot be implemented by Princeton staff, yet which fall below the enterprise level systems deployed by AIS. DAS focuses on applications that have departmental rather than University scope, and which are intended to solve immediate information gathering and dissemination needs. Typically, these are smaller-scale applications that can be developed in days or weeks.
The following are examples of the types of web applications DAS staff have developed in the past and can adapt for your department.
- Departmental web sites employing data-driven content
- Web forms that gather data and store it in a database
- Web sites allowing multiple concurrent access to data
- Web-based registration or application systems
For support for your existing application created by DAS, use our Production Support Form. When using the form specify "DAS" as the system and be sure to mention your application in the one line summary field.
If you have general questions about the tools DAS uses to create web applications, or specific questions about how to use those tools, please email your question to email@example.com.
