121. James Madison Currency

The $5000 bill, last issued in 1969, features a portrait of James Madison, Princeton Class of 1771.  This sum is five times larger than his bequest to the College library upon his death in 1836, which was the largest gift received by that facility until after the Civil War. Madison is quoted on the walls of the Frist Campus Center.
