Q. Does the Future of Children provide funding?
AThe Future of Children does not provide any funding or financial assistance for programs or individuals.

Q. Is the Future of Children a peer-reviewed journal?
A. Yes. For every volume, we hold an editorial meeting with authors, editors, and outside reviewers who provide extensive comments on each paper.

Q. How will I know when new Future of Children editions have been published?
A. You can sign up for our e-newsletter to receive periodic notices about new publications.

Q. I'm particularly interested in a past issue's topic, but the research is somewhat dated.  Do you have any recently updated information?
A. Past issues have not been updated since their date of publication. The journal's topics vary as the editors seek to cover the full range of policy issues affecting children. Upcoming issues may revisit past topics or include them within the discussion of other, related, children's policies. We encourage you to sign up online for our e-newsletter to receive periodic notices about our new publications, all of which are available free-of-charge online. In addition, you can go to the Resources section on our site for links to the centers run by the journal's senior editors. These websites are particularly good sources of current information and may be of help in your research.

Q. Where do I find the journal index for figures and tables?
A. You can view all figures and tables, listed by journal topic, that have appeared in past issues in the Figure and Table listing.

Q. Do you have information about the authors and editors who have contributed to the Future of  Children?
A. Yes, click here for a complete listing of all authors, and short bios of authors and editors who have contributed to the journal since 2005.

Articles and Reprints

Q. May I submit an article for consideration in the Future of Children?
A. No, the journal does not accept unsolicited article submissions. Authors are contacted by the journal's editors when a particular topic is considered.

Q. May I reprint an article from the journal or any of the other Future of Children products?
A. Authorization to photocopy articles for personal use is granted by the Future of Children. Reprinting is also allowed, so long as the journal article is properly given attribution. For journals published prior to January 2005 (Volumes 1-14) please use this attribution: "From The Future of Children, a publication of the David and Lucile Packard Foundation." For journals published after that date (Volumes 15 and higher), please use this attribution: "From The Future of Children, a collaboration of The Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University and the Brookings Institution." It is the current policy of the journal not to charge for reprinting, but this policy is subject to change.

Q. What software do I need to download the PDF versions of the journal?
A.  You should have the updated version of Adobe Reader installed on your computer. To obtain the latest version of Adobe Reader, click here.

Q. How do I obtain The Future of Children free of charge?
A. All electronic versions of The Future of Children publications are available free of charge on this web site. To download complementary copies of the journal and related publications, please click here.

Q. How can I obtain a print copy of The Future of Children?
A. You can purchase print copies of the journal for $24.95 each. Click here for details.
