You are eligible to enroll in Princeton University’s benefit plans if you are a faculty or staff member who works: 
  • in an approved budgeted position,
  • for 50 percent or more of the normal work week schedule (36¼ or 40 hours, depending on the position), and
  • for at least five continuous months or more with pay (directly by Princeton).
Post Doctoral Research Fellows are eligible for benefits regardless of their duty time.
Your dependents also may be eligible to participate in various benefit plans, depending on their age, status and the benefit. You will be required to verify the eligibility of each of your dependents at the time of enrollment.
You are able to make changes to your or your dependent’s medical, dental or vision care plan once a year during Open Enrollment, which usually occurs in October. You can also add or delete an eligible dependent within 31 days of a qualifying status event, or in the case of a birth or adoption, within 90 days from the date of the event.
