Fuels and Combustion Research Laboratory

The Fuels and Combustion Research Laboratory's areas of interest include: non-petroleum-derived alternative fuels, their production, their chemical kinetic properties, and their ability to address U.S. energy security and green house gas as well as other pollutant (hydrocarbons, particulates, nitrogen oxides) concerns; methodologies for enhancing ignition and burning rates of fuels; fire safety of gaseous and liquid fuels on earth and in space environments. Both experimental and computational approaches are applied to study the fundamentals of the above topics.
