Hindustani Vocal Concert October 8 at Taplin

Banerjee Bhawmik will offer a classical Hindustani vocal concert on Friday, October 8, at 8 p.m. in Taplin Auditorium of Fine Hall.
Born in Nogoan, India, Bhawmik has studied under violinist Padmabhushan Pandit V.G. Jog since 1984. She specializes in Khayals, Thumris, and Bhajans. She has received grants from the N.J. Council of the Arts grant for two consecutive years.
Bhawmik will be accompanied by Samir Chatterjee on Tabla and Ramesh Mishra on Sarengi.
Tickets are $12 for members of the general public, $3 for students. Tickets can be reserved by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org . The event is sponsored by the South Asian Students Association, the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students, the Committee on South Asia, the USG Projects Board, and the International Center.
