University hosts Martin Luther King contest and celebration, Jan. 21

New Jersey schoolchildren, University community members and area residents are invited to take part in Princeton University's annual Martin Luther King Day Celebration on Monday afternoon, Jan. 21.
The event includes an essay contest for students in grades seven through 12 and a poster contest for students in grades four through six. Both contests are aimed at expressing the importance of increased understanding and respect among all races. Contest entries are due by Dec. 17.
A ceremony on Jan. 21 will feature contest winners and keynote speaker New Jersey Secretary of State DeForest B. Soaries. A choir from the First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens in Somerset will provide musical entertainment.
