Prest presents paper on Blackstone's influential law book, Dec. 4

Wilfrid Prest will present a paper entitled "Blackstone as Architect: Constructing the Commentaries" at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, in Wallace 300.

William Blackstone (1723-1780) wrote what is still the most influential law book in the Anglo-American tradition. Prest's paper explores the connections between Blackstone's architectural interests and the structure of his "Commentaries on the Laws of England." The workshop is the sixth in this year's Law and Public Affairs seminar series. Prest is a visiting fellow in the Program in Law and Public Affairs, as well as the university professor of history at the University of Adelaide.

Refreshments will be available before the seminar at 4:15, and a reception follows. Opening comments will be made by Stanley Katz, Woodrow Wilson School professor of public and international affairs.

If you have questions or would like to obtain a hard copy of the paper, contact Cindy Kinelski or visit Wallace 358.
