Frist Cafe concert series begins Feb. 16

The 2002 Frist Cafe Concert Series is being launched by the Trustee Initiative , Undergraduate Student Government and Frist Campus Center . The concerts will take place at Cafi Vivian in the Frist Campus Center on Thursdays and Saturdays throughout the spring semester. Shows begin at 11 p.m. and will be open and free of charge to all members of the Princeton University community.Performing will be:
- RANA Saturday, Feb. 16 Comprised of several Princeton Day School alumni, RANA follows the path paved by such influential Princeton artists as Phish, Ween and Chris Harford. RANA is known among its fans for "stretching" its songs through improvised sections, creating sets that are vastly different from night to night.
- Patty Larkin Thursday, Feb. 28 Combining folk roots with a set of modern pop sensibilities, Larkin is one that can take words and sound and provide a distinctive, bracing taste of the modern world. She is an alumnus of the prestigious Berklee College of Music, and has won an unprecedented 11 Boston Music Awards, most recently for work on her album "Perishable Fruit." Patty Larkin is touring nationally to concert halls, festivals and universities in support of her newest album, "Regrooving the Dream."
Other performers will include Erase Errata, April 4; Marc Ribot Y Los Cubanos Postizos, April 11; and the Gibb Droll Band, April 27.
