Wartime humanitarianism is topic for talk, Nov. 20

and Iraq: Humanitarianism at Gunpoint" is the title of a lecture to be presented at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, in 16 Robertson Hall. Nancy Lindborg, executive vice president of Mercy Corps, will deliver the lecture, which is sponsored by the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs .

Mercy Corps is a not-for-profit organization that exists to alleviate suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive and just communities. Since 1979, the organization has provided more than $710 million in assistance to people in 76 nations.

Lindborg plays a key role in the corps' strategic planning, policy and program development, and emergency response in the Middle East, the Balkans, and South and Central Asia. She also manages the development of policy and advocacy positions affecting many of the postconflict and transitioning countries, such as Iraq and Afghanistan.
