Barkan named Phi Beta Kappa visiting scholar

Leonard Barkan, the Arthur Marks '19 Professor of Comparative Literature, has been selected as one of 14 visiting scholars for 2003-04 by the Phi Beta Kappa Society. Barkan also is director of Princeton's Society of Fellows in the Liberal Arts .
The visiting scholars travel to universities that have Phi Beta Kappa chapters, spending two days on each campus. The scholars meet informally with undergraduates, participate in classroom lectures and seminars, and give a major address to the academic community.
