Pianist mixes jazz with Afro-Brazilian rhythms in concert, March 10

Pianist Tom McDermott will perform "Infusion: American Jazz with an Afro-Brazilian Sauce" at 8 p.m. Monday, March 10, in the Frist Campus Center Multipurpose Room B.
McDermott's performance will include critical commentary on Brazil's musical traditions and their interchange with American jazz, honky-tonk and rock 'n' roll. The New Orleans-based pianist has recorded four albums, including his latest, "Danza," which continues his exploration of Latin influences in jazz.
The performance is sponsored by the Department of Spanish and Portuguese Languages and Culture . It is free and open to the public.
