Dark comedy explores Palestine-Israel conflict, March 28

"Divine Intervention," an award-winning dark comedy that explores the Palestine-Israel conflict, will be shown at 8 p.m. Friday, March 28, in McCosh 10.

Palestinian filmmaker Elia Suleiman wrote, directed and stars in "Divine Intervention," which won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival.

Suleiman plays a screenwriter burdened with a sick father and an unrequited love affair with a beautiful Palestinian woman living in Ramallah. An Israeli checkpoint on the Nazareth-Ramallah road forces the couple to rendezvous in an adjacent parking lot.

The free screening is sponsored by the Global Issues Forum , which will hold a discussion after the film.
