Meister to oversee core Web site

Reed Meister has been named director of Web communications and strategic projects in the Office of Communications.

Meister, who has more than 17 years of experience as an information systems professional, will be responsible for managing the design, content and communication policy strategies related to the University's Web presence. As part of his responsibilities, he will oversee the University's core Web site, which the office runs in partnership with the Office of Information Technology. He also will serve as an adviser to the campus community on Web communications.

A specialist in emerging information technologies and in the coordination of multi-disciplinary teams, Meister has held management and consulting positions in the United States and Europe. He previously worked for six years at Fujitsu Consulting, as associate director of consulting in its Edison, N.J., office and as chief information officer for Europe out of its Paris, France, office. He also was employed in various positions within financial and legal organizations and as an independent technology consultant in Paris, Princeton, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.

"Capturing the essence of this University virtually while ensuring information is accessible, reliable and appealing is a formidable challenge that requires sophistication, organization and intimate knowledge of the Web and other emerging technologies," said Lauren Robinson-Brown, director of communications. "Reed is a leader and strategic thinker who will help us move to a new level of Web delivery through projects such as a dynamic core site redesign and a content management system. We're thrilled to have him on our team."

Meister will supervise Evelyn Tu, Web specialist in the Office of Communications.

A graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, Meister earned a master's degree in international relations and economics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. He also attended the United Nations Graduate Study Program in Geneva, Switzerland, and the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris.
