Deford to address Friends of the Library dinner, Jan. 24

Writer and commentator Frank Deford will discuss "Sports: The Hype and the Hurrah" at the annual winter dinner held by the Friends of the Princeton University Library on Saturday, Jan. 24. The reception will begin at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m., in the Rockefeller College dining hall.
Deford, a member of Princeton's class of 1961, is a commentator on National Public Radio and the senior contributing writer at Sports Illustrated. He has been selected six times by his peers as U.S. Sportswriter of the Year and appears regularly on "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel" on HBO. He has written 13 books, the most recent of which is "American Summer: A Novel" (2002).
The Friends of the Princeton University Library sponsor events throughout the year to promote the library and its holdings, and also underwrite the publication of the Princeton University Library Chronicle .
