Independent film producer David Novack will screen clips from "American Coal," a work in progress that explores the intersection of public policy, energy demand and the environment, at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in 2 Robertson Hall.
The documentary examines how coal extraction and electricity production affect the environment, the economy and public health. Following the screening, Novack will discuss the challenges faced by filmmakers who seek to address social and policy issues in their works.
The event is part of the Rural Policy Speaker Series, created this year by the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs to foster sustained dialogue about domestic rural policy.
