Fire causes building evacuation, road closures

A major fire at the College Road apartments on Princeton's campus prompted the evacuation of the building shortly before 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10. No injuries have been reported.

All residents of that University-owned faculty-staff residence have been contacted by the University's housing department, and arrangements for alternate housing have been made. Crews are in the process of rescuing pets from the 13-unit complex.

Several roads are closed because of the fire. College Road is closed between Alexander Street and University Place, and Alexander Street is closed between University Place and Mercer Street. University Place is scheduled to remain open, but drivers should plan alternate routes during rush hour.
