Jazz concert features 'A Woman's Voice'

The Princeton University Concert Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Composers Collective will feature renowned female composers as well as Estonian guest vocalist Kadri Voorand and Princeton senior Julia Brav and when they present the program "A Woman's Voice: The Music of Women Composers in Jazz" at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 2, in Richardson Auditorium, Alexander Hall.
The performance, directed by Anthony D.J. Branker, will include the work of Maria Schneider, Melba Liston, Eliane Elias and Pamela Watson. Voorand, who was featured in several concert performances with the Jazz Composers Collective during the its 2006 tour to Estonia and in Princeton in 2007, also will perform.
In addition, the concert will feature the work of Brav, a jazz pianist who was recognized last year by leading jazz publication Down Beat magazine with a citation for outstanding performance in the best college jazz soloist category.
