The Black Arts Company: Dance will present its fall show titled "The 2008 BAC Awards" Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 13-15, in the Frist Campus Center Theater.
Show times are 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 6 and 9 p.m. Saturday.
Directed by junior Kristen Coleman, the performance will create a full awards-show experience while fusing many different styles of dance including tap, jazz, lyrical, bellydance, reggae and hip-hop.
Choreographers include students Alexis Morgan, Jessica Gray, Kahina Haynes, Neia Prata, Grace Cineas, Adetola Olatunji, Lauren Ivey and Carlo Frem.
The company's mission is to help promote understanding about the human experience in the African diaspora through dance. Its use of history, tradition and dance forms from Africa, the Caribbean and Latin America, blended with modern, hip-hop, lyrical and jazz dance styles, expresses through the body what cannot be said in words.
Tickets for the show are free with a Student Events Eligible ticket, $6 for students, faculty and staff, and $7 for general admission. They are available by visiting the Frist Campus Center ticket office, by calling (609) 258-9220 or by going online through University Ticketing.
