Chen earns Fulbright to study in England

Andy Chen, a member of Princeton's class of 2009, has received a Fulbright award to study at the Royal College of Art in England.

The award will cover tuition and living expenses for Chen to study in the Helen Hamlyn Research Associates program during the coming academic year. The program pairs students with partners in industry or nonprofit organizations to work on socially inclusive design. Chen will work with nonprofit and charity organizations in London.

Chen, who earned a bachelor's degree in sociology and a certificate in East Asian studies, was awarded the Pyne Honor Prize, Princeton's highest general undergraduate distinction for excellent scholarship, strength of character and effective leadership. He founded Princeton's first student graphic design initiative, the Student Design Agency, leading a team of 25 designers who have produced more than 600 posters, websites and other graphic materials in the past three years.

This summer Chen is serving as an intern at New York-based Pentagram Design.

The U.S.-U.K. Fulbright Commission, created after World War II, offers awards to promote leadership, learning and empathy between the nations through educational exchange.
