Author Marias to read from work

Spanish author Javier Marias will read from his work in an event set for 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, in 101 McCormick Hall.
Marias also will discuss his work in a conversation with Angel Lourerio, professor of Spanish and Portuguese languages and cultures, and Michael Wood, the Charles Barnwell Straut Class of 1923 Professor of English and Comparative Literature.
Marias, born in Madrid in 1951, published his first novel, "The Dominions of the Wolf," at age 17 after running away to Paris. In 1997, his novel "A Heart So White" became a bestseller in Europe.
The event is sponsored by the Spencer Trask Lecture Fund of the University Public Lecture Series and the Department of Spanish and Portuguese Languages and Cultures.
