Theologian to discuss democracy and torture

Theologian and activist George Hunsinger will present a lecture titled "Violence Finds Refuge in Falsehood: American Democracy and the Future of Torture" at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, in 16 Robertson Hall.

Hunsinger, an ordained Presbyterian minister, is the Hazel Thompson McCord Professor of Systematic Theology at the Princeton Theological Seminary. He also has a long history of antiwar and human rights activism and has been a vocal critic of the war in Iraq.

The event is part of the "Crossroads of Politics and Religion" series sponsored by the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and the Center for the Study of Religion.
