1:45 P.M. Oct. 31 UPDATE - Roads reopened, power restored after storm

In an update to a previous announcement about road closures and power outages from the storm that moved through the area Oct. 29-30, Princeton's Department of Public Safety has reported that Route 206 has reopened in both directions, and power has been restored to the Stanworth Apartments graduate housing complex.

Oct. 30 announcement: Storm to affect Monday traffic, power to some buildings

Individuals traveling to the Princeton University campus may experience delays Monday, Oct. 31, because of road closures caused by the storm that moved trough the area over the weekend.

Princeton Township has reported that downed trees and electrical wires are blocking traffic on Route 206 in both directions between Mountain Avenue and Ewing Street. All lanes are closed, and detours are in place. Several areas north of Princeton also are experiencing power outages affecting traffic signals on Route 1 and other local roads.

In addition, there are power outages at the Stanworth Apartments graduate housing complex, and PSE&G estimates power will be restored by 11 p.m. Monday. Residents have been notified that Dillon Gym has been opened as a heated gathering space, where showers, toiletries and a sleeping area with cots and linens are available. Generators were connected to the domestic hot water system at Stanworth so residents could have hot water beginning approximately 7 p.m. Sunday, but the heating system cannot be activated with portable generators.

For Monday's commute, Princeton's Department of Public Safety is advising employees to check within their local communities to learn if roadways in their region are closed. Traffic conditions can be monitored through 511NJGoogle traffic and Beat the Traffic, though please note that these independent sites vary in functionality.
