9:15 AM NOV. 2 TRAVEL UPDATE: Trains resume, University running shuttles from Princeton Junction

Here is an update on travel conditions at the University, in Princeton and surrounding communities. Conditions are changing rapidly as utility crews clear roads and restore power, and as travel providers restore service. Please use the links below for the latest information, and use caution and common sense while traveling.

Rail

New Jersey Transit has resumed limited service between New York and Trenton, with stops at Newark airport and Princeton Junction. For the schedule, click here.

The Dinky line between Princeton Junction and campus remains down, so the University is establishing a shuttle service from the junction to the Dinky station on campus.

For Friday, Nov. 2, TigerTransit buses will begin meeting trains at Princeton Junction station at 10:25 a.m. and will run continuously until the last scheduled train at 2:39 a.m. Saturday.

The University expects to maintain the shuttle service until the Dinky line between Princeton Junction and campus resumes.

Amtrak Northeast Corridor service is disrupted. Check with Amtrak for the latest updates.

SEPTA trains, including regional rail service between Philadelphia and Trenton, are running. Anyone flying to Philadelphia International Airport wishing to get to campus can take SEPTA rail to Trenton and transfer to a New Jersey Transit train for the short ride to Princeton Junction, then catch the TigerTransit shuttle.

Roads

Highways and major roads leading to the University are open. However, because of lingering power outages, many traffic lights are still out and turn restrictions are in effect.

Hundreds of secondary roads and side streets remain blocked by fallen trees and power lines. Many traffic lights are out of service.

Roads and walkways on campus are clear and open.

Gasoline

Long lines of vehicles are forming at many gas stations in Princeton and surrounding towns. Because of power outages, some stations are closed.

Drivers intending to refuel in the Princeton area should allot extra time to wait to in line.
