Ngai to give inaugural lecture in Asian American studies series

Mae Ngai will give the first lecture in a new series "Asian American Studies Today and Tomorrow" at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, in McCormick Hall, Room 106. Ngai, the Lung Family Professor of Asian American Studies and professor of history at Columbia University, will speak on "Chinese Goldminers and the Chinese Question in Pacific World Settler Colonies, 1848-1908." The series is organized by Anne Cheng, professor of English and African American studies, and Hendrik Hartog, the Class of 1921 Bicentennial Professor in the History of American Law and Liberty and director of the Program in American Studies.
