Princeton students spread out around the globe each summer to explore the international dimensions of their academic interests in six-week courses taught by University faculty in locations at the heart of the seminar's subject matter.

These PIIRS Global Seminars, offered by the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies in coordination with the Office of International Programs, give students the opportunity to learn in the classroom, visit local sites and hear from people in the community. Students also engage in service projects, study the local language and connect with students from these societies who are also enrolled in the courses.

"It was definitely one of the highlights of my Princeton experience," said Victoria Seyoum, a member of the Class of 2014 who participated in a seminar that took place in Rome, Italy, and Krakow, Poland, and focused on the history of the ghetto. "We were able to be in class and discuss the Roman ghettos and then hours later we would be walking through the Roman ghettos, actually there in real time. I think that sort of learning experience is very unique."
